A Questioner asked Ustaazh Saheed Hamza Aboo Lubaaba (may Allaah preserve him upon what pleases Him)
What is the ruling of covering teeth with Gold or Silva?
Aboo Lubaaba:
Covering the teeth is viewed in a many ways :
1- to replace a damaged tooth; men are only permitted to use silver while the women can use gold or silver.
2- to use as a sign of adornment (Zeenah); only the women are permitted to do this with the condition that it is not permanent ( can be removed ) for ablution and it is not exposed to the Non-mahram.
3- to use as a sign of hajj performance; this is haraam for both men and women as it can spoil once hajj and also it prevents a complete performance of ablution.
One should know that it is harām to mutilate or remove any part of one's body for beautification purpose except in the case of darūrah ( e.g., removing the excess or damaged one ).
