Truthfulness is one of the most honourable characteristics that must not be missing in a Muslim. One of the traits that our beloved Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam) was known with is being truthful.
Narrated Ibn Abbas (RA) when the verse: "And warn your tribe of near-kindred," was revealed, the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam) ascended the Mount. Safa and started calling, "O Bani Fihr! O Bani 'Adi!" addressing various tribes of Quraysh till they were assembled. Those who could not come themselves, sent their messengers to see what was there. Abu Lahab and other people from the Qurayshi came and the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam) then said, "Suppose I told you that there is an (enemy) cavalry in the valley intending to attack you, would you believe me?" They said, "Yes, for we have not found you telling anything other than the truth." He (salallahu alayhi wasallam) then said, "I am a warner to you in face of a terrific punishment." Abu Lahab said (to the Prophet [salallahu alayhi wasallam]) "May your hands perish all this day. Is it for this purpose you have gathered us?" Then it was revealed: "Perish the hands of Abu Lahab (one of the Prophet's uncles), and perish he! His wealth and his children will not profit him..." (Q111[Masad]:1-5)
Truthfulness leads to Paradise...
Narrated Abdullah, the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasallam) said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehoods leads to al-Fujur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and al-Fujur (wickedness) leads to (Hell) fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar." (Bukhari)Therefore, as young Muslims we must be truthful all of the times and always stay away from lies. If you're known with truthfulness, not only will Allah love you, people will love you as well
