QUESTION AND ANSWER WITH DR SHAROF GBADEBO ROOJEE
Questioner: A sister wants to get married. Is the knowledge of Western Education from what she could see in the man (to make her marry him)?
Dr Sharof: All (perfect) praise is for Allaah. The questioner asked about whether or not she could consider if he (the person she wishes to marry) has the knowledge (of western education) before marrying him. We have said that you have the freewill to consider whatever you like.
However, if you ask us about what should be considered, we have already mentioned it. You are the one to decide what to consider. A woman may desire a man who is taller than her, another one may desire a person who is shorter than her, another one may desire a person who has the knowledge of western education, another one may desire a person who tucks in his shirts into his trousers, and the likes. You’re to decide whatever you want. However, ensure that the Islaam of the person is of the highest priority, and ensure that the moral quality of the person is considered. These are the two most important things, but if there is any other thing you desire, praise be to Allaah.
