QUESTION AND ANSWER WITH SHAYKH (DR) SHAROF GBADEBO ROOJEE
Questioner: Is it permissible for a person to observe all the prescribed fasting in Islaam at all times, like the Mondays and Thursdays fasting, the three days in a month fasting (13th, 14th, and the 15th of each lunar month), Sha’baan, Romodoon, and so on. Is this not extremism?
Dr Sharof: How is it extremism? This is not from being hypocritical to yourself in as much you are capable of observing the fasts. Extremism is when you fast everyday. As for the one who fasts on Thursdays and Mondays, three days in a month (13th, 14th, and the 15th of each lunar month), fasting one day and not the next (alternate days fasting); all these are not from extremism in as much as you are capable of it.
