The Frogs Asking For a King

Once upon a time, the frogs decided to go to the court of king Jupiter on Mount. Olympus. They wanted to ask him to give them a king, for they had none. When they reached there, they asked him the same. The king agreed and asked them to go back.

The frogs returned happily, and moments later, there was a big splash in the pond. They were frightened and started jumping into the pond. Gradually, they came out and saw that it was a log of wood. They thought it to be their new king and started treating it likewise.

But they were soon dissatisfied with the log of wood because it lay motionless. As a result, they again went up to King Jupiter and asked for a king. This time, King Jupiter sent them a eel. But, the frogs were soon disappointed with their new ruler too.

The frogs went for the third time to meet King Jupiter. Jupiter got somewhat annoyed with the frogs, but he agreed to their demands. But this time, he decided to teach them a lesson. Therefore, he asked them to leave at once and return to their pond.

The frogs did as they were told. But once they reached the pond, they were horrified, for a heron was appointed as their new king. Soon, the croaks in the pond became less loud, for the heron had started eating his subjects. Only then did the frogs realize that it is better to be satisfied and be contented with whatsoever one has.

COMMENTARY
The story we just finish reading has a lot of lessons in it. The lessons will follow as per paragraphs.

=>We always think good for ourselves. Anytime we are thinking about something; we know (in our mind) it is better for us. So, whenever it warrant us speaking our thought out, first lay it in front of your Maker before any creature or being. Because, help come from Him (Allah) alone although through the means of His creatures.

=>All the times we get good respond for what we've asked for, we become happy one way or the other. But most of us become over joyous that we forgot to thank the one whom Allah has chosen to come to our aid (not) to talk of thanking Allah. Never do that!. Always be grateful even if its just by saying Jazzākumullāhu Khayran for the one Allah chosed to help you or Alhamdulillāh at least. By being grateful, something great and mindboggling will surely and really come out way.

=>Sometimes, we get angry and upset about what we get as response to what we asked for. But remember; the test of Allah shall prevail upon us for the fact that we said we bear witness that there is none of worthy of worship besides Him. Also, Allah test us in different ways. But the one who have succeeded is he who bears a lot of patience when afflicted with a test.
Always remember; the test one will witness or encounter in life, will be three, four, five times the age and years we use whilst alive if not more. For example; a man who spent 50 years on earth will have faced 100 (50×2) tests whilst alive, or 150 (50×3) tests whilst alive if not more. May Allah grant us deeper understanding.

=>Whenever we ask for something and we didn't get it exactly the same way we've thought of it, we became sad and depressed in most cases. But we forgot whatever Allah does to us, is always the best we can have and its full of hidden blessing. And whenever we ask Allah for something, never be in haste; have patience and never lose hope in His mercy. The moment we are not patient to get the response, He (Allah) might bring towards us things we ask for but not as a sign of His pleasure but as a sign of destruction to us. We don't want that. Always pray and keep praying, indeed the power of prayer will really and surely deliver one from whatsoever one is suffering from.

=>Whenever Allah blesses us with other things in replacement of what we've asked for, the best thing we can do is to thank Him, ask for His blessings upon it (though, already in it) and pray it is made positively beneficial to you. The moment we are not satisfied with that, He snatches it away from us and when we keep asking Him the something, He gives us what we asked for but (this time) as a means of destruction to our own selves. For example; a man asking Allah for a car and Allah gives him a bicycle. Bicycle will give him less problem and stress but for the fact that he (the man) was snot happy and satisfied with that, one way or the other Allah takes it away from him and gives him what he thinks it's better for him (which is a car). The moment he got the car, he will be too joyous that it might cause him accident and lead to his death. May Allah safeguard us and grant us piety of the heart to be content with whatsoever we are been blessed with in terms of goodness; for we are blessed in different ways.

  1. Indeed, true...
But what advice can you give someone who's praying for something and kept seeing other things?

    Beautiful post...
It just makes me remember the saying of the scholars that. If we live our lives according to what He (Allah) want, He didn't promise us everything on earth but He promise us CONTENT.

may Allah grant that to us
