Q&A WITH DR SHAROFADEEN

QUESTION AND ANSWER WITH SHAYKH (DR)SHAROF GBADEBO ROOJEE [HAFIDHO-ULLAAH]

Questioner: Can we eat from the foods of the Christians during their festivals?

Dr Sharof: We have explained it. If they give you gifts during their festivals, there is no harm in collecting it. The companions used to collect it. It is not permissible to eat whatever they slaughter because of their celebrations; you must not eat it. This is because whatever they slaughter because of their celebration is under what is used to praise other than Allaah. From its meaning is also that it is what is slaughtered without mentioning the name of Allaah. They have also known this, and that is why they ask some Muslims to help them slaughter their animals. Can’t they slaughter the animals themselves? They see nothing wrong in you slaughtering their animals, but they see a great crime in accepting Islaam. Even if you’re the one who slaughtered it, you must not eat it.
